Henk Van Der Kolk, Co-Founder of TIFF(tiif.net) has been nominated in The Globe and Mail (www.globeandmail.com) newspaper's 25 Transformational Canadians - twenty-five people that have made a significant impact on the lives of fellow Canadians. The finalists are being decided by a distinguished panel of judges.

The list of nominees includes such luminaries as:

Moses  Znaimer

Neil Young

David Suzuki

Frank Stronach

Stephen Lewis

Rick Hanson

Stephen Harper

Michael J. Fox

Tommy Douglas

Romeo Dallaire

Margaret Atwood

Bryan Adams

Henk is in fine company indeed.

In Co-Founding the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) - Henk transformed the Canadian film industry, he changed the types of films they were made in Canada and the types of films Canadians were able to see. In producing Outrageous (starring Craig Russell), he changed the way Canadians see themselves.

Now in its 35th year, TIFF is the largest publicly attended film festival in the world. Over 500,000 people saw 300 films over 11 days this past September.

It all started with a couple of guys, one hotel, a couple of cinemas and a dream.

Henk is now launching a new Spanish-language film festival: PANIFF: Festival de las Americas (www.paniff.com) The festival is set to open April 2012 in Panama.
