Starting a business in Panama

E-mail Print PDF

Here is an e-mail form a member from Kingston, ON. He is asking about starting a solar business in Panama. Roberto

Hi Roberto, My name is Al G. and I am located in Kingston.
I got your name from a friend of mine and saw your note around
Retirement Detectives.
I was trying to retire but got a bit bored and
started up a Solar business and am trying to mate up my love of travel,
warm weather, other cultures with my my expertise in the business.
I am a P Eng and have started a few enquires in Panama but nothing raised as yet.

Wondering if you can direct me a bit or introduce me to any local
resources. I have a drive to come to Panama for a couple of weeks this
coming winter and scout things out.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Here is my response:

Dear Al,
Panama is one of the easiest jurisdictions to start a business I have ever experienced. Just because you are retiring, does not mean your brain is dead. I have never worked so hard as I have since I "retired". To me, being "retired" means I was tired yesterday, I am tired today - I am RE-TIRED.
I have seen a solar shop on Via Brasil near the Pricesmart. I am asking people if they know of any solar panel distributor - so far no luck.
You may try the Colon Free Trade Zone - - see if they have anyone in solar panels or systems?

Hope this helps. Roberto
