A reader asked me recently if the questions I post are real, or do I make them up? I laughed - these are hardly Letters to Penthouse - although I am Facebook friends with Xaviera Hollander.
I can assure you, if I were making them up, I would make them much more flattering to me - such as "Is it true you were voted one of the most handsome men in Latin America?" Or "Thank you Roberto, you are my hero"
Anyway - this question came in from Ron in DC:
There are a number of sports bars across Panama - many in Panama City including The Rockin' Gorilla on Calle Argentina and off track betting bars across from the Marriott Hotel. All of the casinos show US sports on giant plasma screens.
Panamanians are baseball crazy - and there are even screens in MacDonald's so the customers can watch games! Everyone was glued to the sets for the World Soccer Finals of course.
In El Valle there is a new sports bar called Ty's Sports Grill just as you enter town, owned by Tyler and Michelle from St. Catherine's, Ontario.
In Farallon, just down the beach from The Decameron Resort, Monique and Woody (both retired Canadian Air Force) show Hockey Night in Canada and the Junior Hockey Finals on a big screen TV.
There are two major satellite companies; SKY and Cable Onda that offer international sports in various packages.
In short - yes - lots of it. Live. Roberto
