Where to stay in the Santa Clara area

 Roberto:
I was wanting to find out if you could recommend a hotel or cabin or something in your area for a few days.
We are working on finalizing our trip plans and it looks like it will be around the first part of July, 2011.
We need something nice and clean, doesn't have to be fancy or expensive...

We are mainly checking out the areas for future retirement.
And I was wanting to try to at least have a beer with you and have a chat.
We will be using local transportation, I don't want to rent a car if I can help it.
Thanks for your help and I really enjoy your site.

 Dear Bill and Sharon,

I know you said nothing fancy - but if you want to have a second honeymoon, (or if you are in the dog-house) treat your wife to The Bristol Hotel at Buenaventura - beautiful, exotic,  it has one of the best restaurants in all of Panama, gorgeous multi- terraced swimming pools, a spa, golf, ocean/beach. $250 - $325 per night (www.thebristol.com/buenaventura)

I also suggest La Sirenas - it is right on the beach, it has nice, clean units with a kitchen, about $90 - $110 a night I think. (www.lasirenas.com)

There is also Las Verenarus - also on the beach (great beach bar) their thatched roof units sleep 5 - 6 people each - $120 or so per night for the whole unit. (www.travelpod.com/travel-photo/jdhermann/2/.../tpod.html)

The Blue Dolphin Lodge is $55 a night, a bit more rustic/backpacker type. (bluedolphinlodge.weebly.com)

XOKO Restaurant, right at the highway turn off to Santa Clara (great food - Spanish, tapas style) rents basic rooms for $35 a night (ask for a room further away from the highway) ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

XS Memories is on the other side (North) of the highway at the turn off to Santa Clara. It is an RV park, but has rental rooms as well. (American-run sports bar with a great cheese burger) (www.xsmemories.com)

I hope this helps - see you soon.

Roberto
